Wing-Woman here with your first dating tip.

I have a rule for text messages and phone calls. Okay so the guy has your number, if he texts you on the first one you have to answer relatively soon or he'll think you're not interested or that he has the wrong number. And its fine to answer back and forth for a conversation, but every once in a while you need to let him text you twice, maybe even three times. Why? To keep the mystery alive. No one wants to date someone who is obsessive and responds immediately or even overloads their inbox with messages. It's kind of a turn off. But really the key is variation. Sometimes you respond immediately, sometimes you wait a few hours or a few texts, and sometimes you ignore it all together. You need you own life--even if it's calling you best friend talking about said guy.

My phone call rule is wait at least three rings. If you're girlfriends call feel free to answer on that first ring, but if it's a guy wait it out 3 to 4 rings. Take a breath and keep your cool. And like with texting sometimes you have to prove that you have a life and can't answer. Seriously, if you're out with your girls let it ring (think Gaga & Telephone) and if you're at work don't answer your cell its rude and unprofessional to have a personal conversation unless you're on your break.

Like I said: keep your cool, keep him guessing--everyone loves a mystery. If you're easy to figure out or too eager it can be overbearing and scary especially for those commitment-phobes out there.
